What Our Customers
Are Saying...
“We've used a lot of Lindner 684 in our program depending on the hog, being able to keep one with enough flesh and condition to run the jackpot shows and into the end point it has been a great product for us!”
Baxter Howell
“Really like the 680 series for ease of use. Advantages include adding depth and dimension to gilts that are a little harder bodied. ”
Karl Peter
“Consumption rate is tremendous, growth rate has been good for us, and it gets them off to a really good start, and enables us to get pigs ready to sell at 6-8 weeks in order to perform for our customers.”
Ben Moyer
“Really have liked the consumption and driven appetite. Haven’t seen a feed where they consume and want to eat as much as we have seen with 688. ”
Shane Brinning
“There are a bunch of choices out there for feeds but you have to feed something that works, Lindner United is the feed that gets it done from weaning to taking pictures at the backdrop!”
Travis Platt
“Lifesaver, to us, is a show day, electrolyte supplement that really puts body and fill in one to give them that extra edge and show day look. We also use it in daily feeding to help increase appetite. ”
Alan Hoffman
“TNT enhances rib shape, flank, and body. Palatability in this top dress really makes hogs go to it.”
Matt Miller
“I constantly get asked what we do at Team Sloan to get our hogs ready to sell. I always tell people it is very simple, fresh wood shavings and 612. No question, this is the best starter I have used to get babies bloomy without giving them a hard look. ”
Troy Sloan
“684 is the absolute best finishing feed I have found for hogs that need to be softened up while maintaining adequate muscle shape and continuing to grow. Consumption on this particular feed is second to none, especially when fed wet, and in today's show ring that's an absolute must! ”

What do you like about the Lindner feed program?

It is our experience that our customers do not have to add a bunch of specialty products to the Lindner complete feeds to give their pigs the desired showpig look.  Lindner United has many different complete feeds, so there is an option to change a hog in whatever way it needs changed.  There is also a lot of showpig expertise within the company that we can rely on if we have questions on how to improve a pig.  We switched pig feed brands to Lindner in January, 2013 after seeing the results our show pig customers had in Texas who fed Lindner feed.

What is your favorite Lindner product? Why?

673 is our favorite Lindner product, because it is a great complete feed that allows hogs to reach their full genetic potential without adding a lot of extra supplement products to the feed.  We also like 612 as well.

Tell us a little about your dealership and or showpig operation:

Western Kansas Seed and Supply is a full-service agricultural supply company; selling seed, ag chemicals, and show feeds and is owned by the Reiss and McKinney families.  Val Reiss is the manager, and has years of experience raising and showing top-quality cattle and hogs.  Ronnie Comer is the ag. Chemical specialist, but he also shows and raises hogs with his children, showing the Grand at the Wallace County Fair and Tri-State Royal in 2012.  Dakota Reiss is the feed specialist for Western Kansas Seed and Supply.  He graduated from Kansas State in the Spring of 2013 with a degree in Animal Science.  Dakota’s judging career began in 4-H, and completed with a 5th place finish at the National Western Stock Show.  He then participated on the livestock judging teams at Hutchinson Community College and Kansas State University.  Dakota and Val also judge many livestock shows throughout the area.

Currently Reiss Livestock has 40 sows farrowing twice a year, mainly crossbreds and spots.  The spot program has had great success, winning Reserve Champion Spot Gilt at the San Antonio Livestock Show in 2012.  Also, we raised the Champion Poland at the 2014 Houston Livestock Show.  The crossbred program has been successful as well, having eight Grand Champion or Reserves at local county fairs in 2013.  Now that Dakota has moved back home, we are getting back into the cattle business, as well as selling semen on their herd boars.

We feel the combination of a larger-volume feed store, with a strong background of raising and feeding competitive livestock, makes us unique to this area.  We have a website, that combines the two entities. Feel free to contact us with further questions!
